Sonata no. 4 in B-flat, for piano

This is the fourth sonata in my galant series [Sonatas 1-7]. After the bombastic 3rd Sonata I tried to scale back and write simply for the instrument- intending this piece originally to be performed on harpsichord.

This piece aims, as all the sonatas do, to develop new ideas in sound through an "old" medium. "Classical" music, or as I like to call- Acceptable Practice music is almost a lost art. My prayer is some will come to realize that the acceptable practice has not been exhausted as the philosophy of modern music runs dry.

This piece was premiered by Shen Wen at Brandeis University in 2004.
